Hope that 2007 got off to a good start for everyone! I had to work the day after Christmas and the day after New Year's day, so not much time for blogging or pouring over these lovely books I got for Christmas. You might remember me mentioning Lea Stanshal's book recently, so you can imagine how glad I was to find this under the tree. A storybook and craft book all in one, with wonderful photographs! Apparently Lea gives classes too... I think I'd like to try making one of her little birds, like the one on page 57 here-
isn't it beautiful? The Fimo book is from my daughter- which makes me think that we should spend more time making crafts together (she especially likes Fimo and making collages); maybe she wants me to play with polymer clay again?
I have the book by Lea Stansal too. I saw her installation at the Patchwork Meeting in the Val d'Argent last September and was thoroughly enthralled. She stopped me for a closer look at the chenille army uniform backpack I was wearing. Unfortunately, my French sucks and her English isn't very good, so we couldn't pick each other's brains. I would love to know the story of "Sweet Girl," the bear in the book (my two semesters of French 20 years ago isn't helping much). The pictures are great though, and I've already made a few of the mushrooms.
