Care pkg.

Funny, I knew this was going to be a bad weekend at noontime on Friday already, but I didn't know the suck level on this one was going to be so high! I guess my stress threshold is even lower than I thought. So while my head was trying to decide which side* the migraine was going to be on this weekend, I went to a craftstore during my lunch hour to buy myself a pick-me-up. I found these lovely Decopatch papers, some alphabet stamps, and this little package of assorted papers. I'm so glad that there is a craft shop to escape to near my job! Anyway, so here we are Sunday night, poised on the start of another week at work. All I managed to do was add a couple of licks of paint to my altered book tonight. The rest of the weekend is pretty much a blur except for a world cup soccer match I  saw on t.v. (which day was that?)- the French team qualified for the quarter finals: well whoopdie-freakin'-do, man.

*migraines are unilateral; this time the party was on the left side of my head.

Just wanted to post this cute idea for a pillow that was in the last issue of Marie Claire Idées. Love these happy yummy colors, and all the different felt flowers, don't you? If you can read a little French, you'll see in the photo that Marie Claire Idées is going to have their first ever craft show in October near the Louvre! I have been so out of the loop lately what with my stupid new job, that I missed their yearly challenge. This time it was bags (purses, totes, etc.) and as usual the best ones will be pictured in their Christmas issue. All the bags they receive will be sold during the craft show, and the proceeds will go to the children's charity La Chaine de l'Espoir (translation: "Hope Chain"). I could kick myself because I really wanted to participate, and I let the date slip by :o(

Backtack III teaser

       
I am embarrassingly behind with everything in my life right now: housework, e-mail, sewing, reading, washing, (take your pick) - and it's after 2 am Friday night, but I just wanted to finally post a couple of teaser shots of the Backtack III Softie that I made for Eireann. About time, I know. Without giving too much away, the accent color is red as you can see, and I used a pattern that I bought in Sweden about 17 years ago (!). There was more  handsewing than I bargained for, but I really like the way it turned out. That's all I can say now, until it arrives safely in the U.S.

This week at the new job was a little better, but I still feel like I've been putting out a lot of little fires the whole time. And this weekend has to be better than the last 2- I mean a 3rd weekend with a 48 hour migraine just cannot be. And for once, this Saturday there is no school, no karate, and no homework- woohoo! So I plan to read, sleep, do something creative, and maybe even squeeze in a little housework (yuk)!

In the middle of all my new job turmoil, I received my Backtack III softie- isn' she CUTE?!!! J'adore. Eireann sent me this little Zakka style rabbit, and she really made a great softie. So many reasons to love this!

I only hope Eireann will like the softie I made for her half as much as I love the one she made me! I wracked my brains for a pattern too. I couldn't decide on one of the patterns suggested by Backtack, so  I was all: "should I make a different cat? a bear? a horse? a dog? a badger??", then I got interrupted by that damn job interwiew and migraines... Well, I'll upload and post some teaser photos soon, but for now I won't say what I finally decided on making :o)

ATC teaser

I haven't forsaken my blog or forgotten my mail, but honestly- this new job is kicking my butt. At the moment I'm too brain-dead in the evenings to do little else than get everything ready for the next day. Please bear with me- this won't last. Once I get to know the ropes (as the saying goes) at work, everything should be back to normal. Whatever that is.
Today I received these 2 little envelopes with the ATCs from that Flickr exchange I mentioned. The package is so pretty and I'm so zonked out, that I just think I'll enjoy it another day before I open it...

ATC swap

 

Here are 2 Artist Trading Cards I made recently for an exchange that I found at a Flickr group. The one on the left I painted and collaged, and the one on the right is all made out of fabric. They're halfway to New Zealand by now, post office willing. For this swap we had to use one or more images from the group image pool, so it was fun to pick a few out and figure out what to do with them.
I have lots of photos to upload for Backtack III, but that unfortunately will have to wait another day because I start my new job in the morning! Tomorrow it's back to the *real* world. I'm really nervous and stressed out right now, and desparately trying to get rid of the butterflies in my stomach... Remember your first day of school at a new school where you don't know anyone and the icky feeling that this can give you? That's what I feel like.
