My son gave me these: troll candy! The one on the right reminds me of this little troll. Gotta love those yummy colors :o)

Postcard

How many pod card variations did I actually make? I'm not sure, I'll have to have a look in iPhoto and see... But right now I'm far too obsessed with listening to über cool online radio at last fm (recently added to sidebar). Music to create by!

Bamboo & blossoms

Here's a slightly different fabric postcard, and truly one of a kind because I had such a tiny piece of the flower fabric. I free-motion stitched stylized bamboo with gold thread and then fused on a flower I cut out from some Japanese kimono silk. Then I improvised a couple of buds (hmmm, that's funny: they look like the pods to me too...), and satin stitched the stems. I love bamboo- that was the first thing I planted when I finally got my own yard.

Fairy food

You have to get down on all fours and hunt for these little things, but they are so worth it: wild strawberries. They have taken over a certain corner of my garden, and they overan the lemon thyme so I'll have to plant more somewhere else. But then again lemon thyme does not taste good sprinkled over vanilla ice cream, whereas these berries do. Yum.

One of each

I still can't get away from these seed pods, so here are two more in each color. The squares are made of fused Angelina fiber, and don't photograph very well. Well, it's going to be another hot summery day, and today the Summer Sales start! Woohoo!! Why the excitement? Because legally there are only Sales twice a year in France, so no Labor Day sales or Ground Hogs Day sales or any of that nonsense here! It's fun having a teenage daughter to go shopping with :o)

:: Summer ::

Happy first day of Summer! Actually I think it started early in France because it has been really hot here in the 'burbs of Paris for well over a week now. (I would do anything to have a car with air conditioning). Anyway to celebrate Summer, here's a "bee happy" fabric postcard I made and sent out last week. Maybe I forgot to mention this, but the theme for this particular exchange was "garden fantasy".

Today was also la Fête de la Musique, ie Music Day here. This started in France over twenty (24- already?) years ago, and the idea spread to other European countries. This was the brainchild of Jack Lang who actually has a blog I just found out.

My son had a meltdown earlier and I was hot and tired, so I thought it best to avoid fighting the crowds in Versailles or Paris to see any free concerts this year!

Mailbox: awesome postcards from afar

Here are some of the fabric postcards I received recently. Aren't these great?! There are so many talented people in the pc4fun exchange group. I feel like such a complete deadbeat because my cards went out late :o( I hope that the participants will be happy with them though... (problems with self confidence, who me?? nah... well, yah maybe). I'll slowly add pictures of the cards I just made and sent here later, but I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone still waiting to get a card from me.
Anyway back to these super cards I got- a special thank you goes out to Michael who sent me this cool steel blue silk card on the left. He rocks! The colors on the next one are wonderful, I just wish I knew how to take better pictures. I can't do it justice. And the third one has metal flowers stitched on to it! I can't believe this one made it throught the mail, but it has renewed my faith in the postal system. And the radish card on the denim background is really cute!

More pods

In a different color scheme this time. I mailed this one off last week. The irridescent thread and other bits don't photograph well though. I wish that the people who manufacture Angelina fibers would make them a little less heat sensitive because it is so easy to fry the stuff when your fusing things together. Not that this really happened this time, but it's happened before.

Stop Killing Whales

Miles says there's still time, at time of writing, to participate in this online "Save the Whales" campaign. Thanks to Kim and Rosa for spreading the word, otherwise I would have missed this :o)
