Well I decided to dig this little quilt out of its hiding place, so it has been officially upgraded from UFO to WIP. The idea behind this is that once it's back in the "work in progress" stage, then it's only a hop skip and a jump to FINISHED project. I started this wallhanging for a class, and somehow never finished it even though I really like it. So it's been in limbo since June 2001 (embarrassing... I know, but let's not get on the subject of unfinished objects now, okay?). I wonder, if I were to start this wall quilt today in 2005 what would I do differently?...You have to remember that at the time this was made, nobody was selling things like sparkly Angelina fibers, at least not in France anyway. The pretty Angelina heatbond fibers I do have now I only just recently ordered from Germany. Also when I started this quilt, I didn't know that you could paint, heat, and torture Tyvek to make interesting textured things. If I did, it would have been a lot easier to make those stupid rocks on the ocean floor! These are just a couple of examples. So, in 2001 I had to use whatever was on hand: a broken necklace became a strange underwater plant, and I added little shells and a pebble with a hole in it from my beachcomber box of stuff I find at the beach. Now the time has finally come to finish this one, but I don't think I'll really use any "new fangled" textile art gizmos on it though because I like the look I started with. Also I can still hear my mother the painter say, as she often did: "don't overwork it"!
I.m sooooooo proud of you! simplicity is best.

That is going to be a beautiful piece when you are finished (heck, its beautiful now!) can't wait to see what you do with/to it....
Had to laugh about the child cutting the cord... been there, done that. You'll look back one day and laugh!
