Don't go there

Screenshot_1 Oh my god, do I love to hate this addictive little game. As if I didn't do enough of this sort of thing at work and at home...  Although this may be good exercise for fielding problems, you know like a flight simulator for pilots or something? Anyway, this is the sort of thing that seems to empty my head late  this Friday night...

Tripping around

Sunday was spent just kind of bumming around, which almost never seems to happen somehow what with homework and getting ready for Monday. Today we had brunch at Breakfast in America located here, which was fun and almost like being in a diner somewhere back home in the States :o) Yeah, well I guess I do sometimes still get homesick after all these years of living in France. There are lots of fun stores in the neighborhood carrying comic books, toys, and stuff from Kidrobot, so you know where my kids wanted to go afterwards... (mostly chez Album).

New things

I am trying to get back in the loop- I'm so behind in my crafting, answering e-mail, and reading! So what has been going on?

Fleurs_pour_moi I just finished a temp job in Paris spending far too much time rushing around trying to get everything done and worrying about the stuff that didn't get done. In the end, all the worry was for nothing as most worrying is- they were happy with my work and gave me a very nice send-off and these flowers. The good news is that Monday I jump into a brand new job, a real job very close to home with normal hours (yay!), which should leave me more time to actually have a Life :o)

Uni1 I "adopted" a Misio, an adorable little amigurumi kitty all the way from Australia- beautifully crocheted by Madoka. I mentioned her site recently, and when some of her kitties went up for adoption I scurried over to eBay and snagged one! I would have some better pictures if my son hadn't gotten a little over curious with my digital camera -more about that some other day... Today it actually felt like Spring, which is why Misio is sunning herself on my dining table.

A few people have asked me if I sell my fabric postcards, which is very flattering! the Answer: Not so far, but this is definitely something new I'd like to try. Maybe now I'll finally have a little more time to pursue this idea...

Merry Christmas to all

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! Here are some photos I took recently at the Maison du Danemark (Danish cultural center) in Paris. They had a lovely Christmas tree expo- trees decorated by different artists or designers. Check out the Lego tree and the mini Jacobsen chair tree :o) Fun! There was also a tree  completely decorated with recycled plastic odds and ends (my son is in back of it, staring out the window at the Champs Elysées holiday traffic).

Camera shy

Me Yep, that'd be me. Whenever I see a photo of myself these days I get this big urge to run screaming to my old Mac and open up PhotoShop... but I don't of course 'cause that would be cheating :o) So here's just a bit of me sporting my new haircut. I went and pampered myself chez le coiffeur this weekend. I only go to Sylvie's place now (one of the best kept secrets in Paris?) because everyone that works there is an artist and super nice! I love the decor - it's so nice to sit there and have an expresso in a delicate little porcelain demi-tasse before getting my hair done. It's a bit pricey but hey gals, once you hit 40 it takes a lot more to get yourself all gussied up LOL!

Ooops...

I'm so brain dead from the new job and commuting in sucky conditions that I forgot that Thursday was:

  • my husband's birthday
  • Thanksgiving

Now I ask you, how lame is that?? Pretty damn lame, that's what. This is a sign, for sure. To make amends somewhat, here is a photo of the afore mentioned monsieur taken back in the day, and the crazy patchwork frame I made for a that Polaroid when I was into making little frames à la Judith Baker Montano :o)  I especially like the little wheat stalks (see detail) as they came out nice and were fun to embroider.

Now you are 8.

Img_ms18112006 This weekend we celebrated my little guy's 8th birthday. He asked me to make him this cake (the sweet potato version).
Happy Birthday my little croque-choux !

NOT asleep on the job

Sandra I'm still here, but have been having some job interviews lately.  I haven't had the time or the desire to sew so much as a hem (not that I like doing hems, bwahaha)! So watch this space for future crafty endeavors. Really. I have a couple of ideas I'd like to try, but this will have to wait til Friday night at least. So... for now maybe I can point you in another direction with these links:

Tribhüsli mini geenhouse made from CD cases
Amerindianarts.info Native American art blog
Garnstudio.com has lovely free knitting patterns
Madamtut- wish I could go shopping in Denmark... (check out their crocheted toys- Danish amigurumi!)

Things I've been doing

Signing myself up for a class in stained glass.
(I know, I need another hobby like a hole in the head).

Buying pretty things from LingGlass's Etsy shop.

Crocheting an amineko (amigurumi kitty).

Admiring Marieke's felt creations.

Adding things to my Wists (wishlist to dream with).

Finally posting photos of the two Artist Trading Cards I received awhile ago from Amy. I love them.
