Living vicariously thru Marie Claire Idées...

I want a sewing area like this when I grow up.

I also like these little sewing accessories which look easy to make, and this pretty gypsy bag. Sigh...

I want this book!!

Isbn_2700604342
ISBN: 2700604342 - Roughly translated the title is "the Sewing bag", but it looks like sewing case would be closer. I'm dying to for a peek inside this book... The author Léa Stansal has also written a previous book, which looks really nice as well, but really I'm intrigued by the little house and mushrooms on this one :o) Found via the latest issue of Marie Claire Idées. Hey wait a sec- it looks like you can now download the magazine online for 4.60€... check here. Nov_boliglivCoolness. Now if I could only download the Danish magazine BoligLiv that I'm so fond of... I discovered it last Summer- inside mostly home dec, a little DIY, recipes, and inspiration. (NB: they do offer some free recipes in Danish- looks yummy!)

Losing it (my mind, that is)

I haven't had any time to post here or do anything creative ever since I got back from Denmark because it's been a madhouse at work! After only a few days in that place my vacation is a distant memory. These 2 quotes by writer Terry Pratchett sum things up nicely:

  • “This isn't life in the fast lane, it's life in the oncoming traffic.”
  • “Only in our dreams are we free. The rest of the time we need wages.”

Mcidees_fall2006Well, I should be "free" again next month (free and wage-less, bwahaha!).  Yes, free to find another temp position... but I am SO looking forward to it, because damn. The only things keeping me together this week are the Marie Claire Idées magazine I bought Wednesday on my lunch hour , and coming home to my son's silly little boy hugs.

PS: Please bear with me if I owe you an e-mail!

As seen in MC Idées

Felt_pillow_ideaJust wanted to post this cute idea for a pillow that was in the last issue of Marie Claire Idées. Love these happy yummy colors, and all the different felt flowers, don't you? If you can read a little French, you'll see in the photo that Marie Claire Idées is going to have their first ever craft show in October near the Louvre! I have been so out of the loop lately what with my stupid new job, that I missed their yearly challenge. This time it was bags (purses, totes, etc.) and as usual the best ones will be pictured in their Christmas issue. All the bags they receive will be sold during the craft show, and the proceeds will go to the children's charity La Chaine de l'Espoir (translation: "Hope Chain"). I could kick myself because I really wanted to participate, and I let the date slip by :o(

A real scoop

Oh la la- Quilting Arts has a blog! How cool.
Magazines_1 Bookmark this puppy right away! I'm so jazzed about this. This will make waiting for their magazine seem less long- I wish it came out more often than 4 times a year.
Many thanks to Sandy at Dangling by a Thread for the link- Sandy you're the best! Did I mention how thrilled I was? Oh, sorry.  Well then... did I mention that my friend the amazing Lisa brought me back the latest issue of Cloth Paper Scissors from L.A.? Big deal you say? Actually it IS a big deal because to my knowledge you can't find this magazine in France! I must subscribe asap (i.e. as soon as I get a job).

Getting my stash on

I have been wanting to thank supermagic Lisa for bringing this craft loot back to France from the States recently for me, at my request :o) If anyone says "yeah, big deal" here, I will fish slap them because it IS a big deal! This stuff is un-findable in France, and seems only to be available through the wonders of online shopping and global priority envelopes. So I am no longer missing an issue of Quilting Arts, and I also scored a Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, some fabric foil, and a bag irridescent candy pink Angelina fiber. Merci Lisa!

A hot bath, coffee, and thou

My QUILTING ARTS subscription is running again! I missed a magazine, but the latest issue came in the mail today and I'm so thrilled. Off to wallow in all the creative goodness in the tub with some coffee :o) A perfect ending to a so-so day!

Goodies!

Craftmags My brother brought me these great magazines from back home! This is the first copy of Cloth, Paper, Scissors I've ever had in hand, and it's every bit as interesting as Quilting Arts magazine (their sister publication). Oh dear, now I want to subscribe to this too... So much inspiration in these babies!

Inspiration delivered to my door

Qamag17
Woohoo! My copy of Quilting Arts magazine finally made it across the Atlantic, as did this beautiful fabric postcard in yummy orange tones from Emily H. in MN, USA. Oh, happy day, quilty goodness in my mailbox!! I've been wondering when my magazine was going to show up. And hmm, what's this? Dyed silk cocoons for embellishing?? Now where the hell am I gonna find those here in France?! Maybe I can order some from Quiltzauberei in Germany... Anyway, these little silk pods just may have some interesting possibilities. It looks like beads and things can be added to them. (PS: the flannel quilt hiding under the magazine and card is my blankey and my son's tv watching quilt)
