Look no further

Seek

As I was sitting in front of my sewing machine wondering what I could work on in this hot weather, I decided to challenge myself to use only what was within arm's reach- very fitting since I'm still hobbling around the house because of my leg. So using only stuff that was flying around my sewing table or fabric scraps found on the floor, I made this little thing. It's neither here nor there as far as format goes, because it's too little to be a postcard and not the right size for an ATC because it's 4 x 2 5/8 inches big. Since I had my alphabet rubber  stamps and ink pad on hand, I stamped out the word "seek", as a reminder that sometimes you really don't have to look very far.

My little boy with the over active imagination said that to him it looked like an icy landscape with a tiny treasure at the edge of a semi frozen lake, and an that there was an aurora borealis in the sky over the barren tree. Wow :o)

Depends on how you look at it...

"Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday." - Napoleon Hill

β€œProcrastination gives you something to look forward to .” - Joan Konner

"Know the true value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness; no laziness; no procrastination; never put off till tomorrow what you can do today." - Lord Chesterfield (1694 - 1773)

β€œIt isn't procrastination if you put it off right away.”- Unknown

PS: Yes, I know this is in direct conflict with my previous post.

Come on, get happy!

CroquesmileOne of my best friends sent me this great article on the 10 Keys to Happiness, which was a thoughtful New Year's greeting and a very interesting read, so I'm passing it on. Thanks Teri!

Blog Anniversary

Moi_photobooth Wow, 3 posts in one day- could it be... yes! It's croque-choux's 1 Year Blog Anniversary! Thanks to everyone who actually reads me, and a special thanks for all the nice comments I've received here during the past year. I might not always find time to answer each person, but these e-mails, well wishes, and virtual pats on the back mean a lot to me! At first I didn't tell any people I knew that I had a blog because I was afraid they'd be all :"You started a WHAT? A blog?? On the web? Are you nuts??!", but now when my friends and family want to know what I've been up to they check my blog first which is really funny. When I called my brother (long distance, bien sur) the other day and told him that my temp job didn't go permanent as planned, he answered "Yeah. It's the Word out on the street". Ya gotta love dry humor, or as they say in French "humour pince sans rire". But I digress. Here is a link to the first 2 things I wrote here last year, and a link to the full croquechoux archives.

ps: Thanks to Mia for being the 1st person to leave me a comment last year! Check out her blog (in Swedish!) and try this totally fun test she blogged about to see which celebrity you ressemble! OhmyGod, I tried this and I most ressemble... Lawrence Fishburn!!

Mulling it over with my right brain

159croquechoux Remember the temp job I got last month that was supposed to go permanent? Well, it didn't. Or rather it isn't, and although I felt a bit weird when I found out on Thursday, that feeling has morphed into relief- which says to me that it just wasn't in the cards for anybody. Okay, perhaps I shouldn't have told them recently that "my eyes have a tendancy to glaze over whenever I see spreadsheets with lots of numbers and sales figures etc.", but hey it's the truth :o) No sense trying to fit a round peg into a square hole, or a right brain person into a left brain job for that matter. ANYway... I'm too tired to think about all that now, so I'll just mull over my choices during the holidays.

Unthought-of stuff that's true

"Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it."
-Ellen Goodman

Profound!

Back

Xppng I've been neglecting my poor lil' blog the past few days but it's only because:
* school started (lots to do for both kids)
* my brother was in town for a visit (last saw each other 2 years ago!!)
* my stupid head decided to hurt during his visit
* and now I'm feeling sad because the visit is over.

Hurricane Relief

Couldn't sleep after that last post and then I found this! CraftersUnited- what a wonderful idea... please check it out! Donate a craft item or buy from others who've donated their lovely handmade goods and the proceeds will go to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.
Found via Tuula who I've just added to my sidebar in spite of the late hour :o) Okay, now I feel better because this is so inspiring, and I think I can sleep now (it is almost 2:30 in the morning here).

my heart in my hand

My_hand Right now I thinking about the sad things that just happened on both sides of the world, the aftermath of Katrina, panic in Iraq... and the tv news just reminded me of the tragic events exactly 1 year ago in that school in Beslan. Sending out cyber hugs and hearts is all I can do just this minute... C'est si peu.
