Knitting again... I seem to have caught the hand knit sock bug! I know this will probably surprise a lot of people who come (or used to come) here to see if I had any fiber art in the works, but I seem to have temporarily gone off sewing for the moment. It's much easier to whip out the knitting needles than it is to set up the sewing machine, ironing board, and cutting mat. Just saying. Also, I finally got in at Ravelry, which is not helping my sewing ideas any - such a cool website! When I'm not surfing around FLickr, I'm all over Ravelry :o) Anyway, here is the sock pattern I'm doing right now.
That said, the latest Marie Claire Idées has some wonderful ideas in it this time! Check it out on their website. I especially like the chair cover which is inspired by the well known Royal Copenhagen porcelain patterns. I will probably have to wait until Christmas vacation though before I can start one of their projects, which should give me enough time to finish the 2 pairs of socks I have on the go...

It was kind of sucky to have to work on my birthday for several reasons- but after a Japanese dinner, a bottle of Kirin, a little relaxing, and receiving tickets (woot woot!) to see the Police in concert in a few days I'm a happy camper. I am even in the process of making something for myself for once- a pair of wool socks. I have been quiet lately, but I've been knitting and thinking a lot. I never thought I'd knit a pair of socks in my entire life, but this was really fun to learn- mainly because I could not resist buying this Hundertwasser yarn! I love Hundertwasser so when I saw this yarn resistance was futile. One of my Flickr contacts pointed out that this yarn and the sock perfectly match this street art photo I took in Christiania recently :o)
Where I spent my Summer vacation:
Denmark!
Where I stayed:
oh, and
...What I ate lots of :o)
...The design shop I drooled in the most
...Where my son had the best time :o)
A quickie card made this afternoon using what was at hand: silk and cotton and little shiny bits.
It came out a little too bling for my taste, but it was good just to accomplish anything in this heat we're having!
I just joined 2 ATC groups on Flickr: Fabric/Textile ATCs and ATCs from Europe.
